NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) just announced the winning images for their annual showcase competition. I am honored that my image, “Pandemic Moons” won first place in its category of Altered Reality. Throughout the pandemic I photographed the moon and compiled favorites using Photoshop to create this sphere. My father passed during that time and I feel like I captured our memories of stargazing and marveling at the moon together with this image.

A Hermit Thrush in the evening light. You'll mostly find them foraging on the ground for insects or in shrubs, but this one posed long enough on my fence for me to snap a pic. They have the sweetest melody of any bird that I've heard - just like a flute!

Looking through some photo archives I came across this one. Although photographed from a very far distance and not super clear, it was a special moment for me seeing a coyote in the early morning light walking along these sand dunes so peacefully.

One of my favorite birds when exploring Mount Diablo. You can't mistaken their laughter-like calls. Acorn woodpeckers depend heavily on acorns and store them in holes like these. They live in family groups and work together to raise their young, gather food, and guard it.
